BRUNCH IN PORTO!
Hi there, my beautiful tea cups!
Well, it's time for me to share something I love with you: BRUNCH! There is nothing better than waking up on a Sunday or Holiday, slowly getting ready to leave the house and heading straight to a brunch house to get your energy for the day.
Recently, I have tried a brunch house in Porto that I been wanting to try for a really long time but it just never happened...until last weekend! We were heading to the city centre and we were thinking where we should go to eat something (we were actually starving!) and Garden Porto Café just came to my mind as soon as one of us said "what about brunch?".
I started looking at the menu in their Instagram page. They have it in English and Portuguese in their highlight "Menu". There were so many great options that it makes it hard to choose only one or two.
I am going to present you our options but check the menu if you doubt my food judgement when I'm so hungry ;)
So, first things first, we ordered the Sweet Potato Toast and the Veggie Tacos. We opted for water as our brunch drink (basic, I know but I love my water) but there are a lot of other options such as cocktails, Sangrias, different types of beer, wine, Juices, Natural Juices and different types of coffee.
The Veggie Tacos had a little spicy touch and I have to say that chickpeas and avocado are a tremendous combination!
As for the toast, mushrooms are always a great choice but that sweet potato is THE PERFECT TOUCH! Besides that, both dishes had sweet potato strips, which I didn't even knew, but let me tell you they are something you should get to know (if you don't already, of course!).
The Veggie Tacos have guacamole, chickpeas with quinoa, homemade yoghurt sauce and sweet potato and they come with a lettuce and radishes salad that it just delicious
The Sweet Potato Toast had mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, poached eggs and sweet potato strips plus the same salad as the tacos
After our first dish, it was time to give our sweet teeth a little treat. It was a day of firsts for me as I had an Açaí Bowl for the first time in my life and I regret taking so long to try it. This on came with chia seeds, banana, kiwi, strawberries and a homemade granola that was to die for. And it even had a little flower as decoration...how perfect is it?
The homemade granola in this bowl is just divine!
My boyfriend went for the pancakes. In Garden Porto Cafe, they have a particular combination of flavours in one of their pancakes' options: pumpkin and Oreo cookies. We decided to give it a try and it was our best pancake decision!
It allied the sweetness of the Oreo ice cream with the comfort and fall feels of the pumpkin...it just melts in your mouth and makes your tummy happy!
Look at these pancakes...how can someone resist???
As we are on this weird Covid-19 period, you have to wear a mask if you want to eat inside, to go to the bathroom or to pay at the register. Even though we stayed outside, I went inside once and the place is just GORGEOUS! It lives up to its name because it feels like a little garden inside. The decor of the place actually conquered my heart and so did its location. This gem is located right before the emblematic Aliados Avenue which means you are basically. in the heart of Porto, near to almost every point of interest in the city centre (location right here).
Another important and pretty important information: it is open from 10h30 to 18h30 and it is closed on Mondays.
Now that you know this place, you really have to try it if you ever come to Porto. It is totally worth it...it is in my top of favourite brunch houses and that has to mean something, right?
Hope you liked this post and that you give a try to this awesome place!
XO,
Bárbara
