The best gifts for a traveler

Here we are: Christmas time! This is the time when everyone is looking for the best gifts for their loved ones. The first thing I want to say is that the most important thing is that you don't need to spend money on material things if they are not needed. Thus, if you want to gift someone but there is nothing in particular that they might need, don't buy something just because: instead, think about something meaningful that you can actually create or think about gifting them an experience instead of something material.

However, if you have a traveler friend, boyfriend, girlfriend or relative, in this article I'll show you some things they might actually need. When thinking about a gift for someone who loves to travel, try to think about problems they might face on their travels and think about something that could be helpful in solving those problems. For example, things that are anti robbery, that helps with organization of trips or the baggage itself...try to remember some problems they might have shared with you and give them something that helps with that.

Here are some ideas that could help you in this process:

1 - Anti-theft backpack

We all know that some cities are specially complicated when in comes to pick pocket situations and this makes it hard to enjoy the trip when you know you have your phone, your camera, your money and your documents in your back pack because you know there is a high chance of having them stolen. This being said, this could be the absolute best gift for a traveler who wants to carry their values securely.

2 - Resistant luggage

When it comes to luggage, we all know that there are two possibilities: you either carry them with you in the plane, bus or train or it goes straight to the cargo hold. Either way, you need a resistant one so it will last long despite the way their handled on the airport so putting in the effort of doing some research to find the best and most resistant luggage to give to your fellow traveler might be a not only good but also meaningful touch.

3 - Packing cubes

Those who travel a lot know how hard it is to pack sometimes. Having some extra help on keeping things organized will not only be good in the packing process but also when you need to take something out of the bag. It will be easier to find and to take off the bag without leaving a mess inside your luggage.

4 - Pillow and eye mask for the plane, trip, etc.

This one will make those long flights, long bus trips or train trips a whole lot easier!! How many times did you want to sleep but the lights were on and you couldn't? How many times did you fell asleep and woke up feeling like someone broke your neck in your sleep? A good mask and a pillow will make any trip a great rest ;)

5 - Luggage tag

There isn't a lot I can say here because this one is self explanatory. Having a tag on your bag will make the process of collecting your luggage run smoother without you getting someone else's bag or vice-versa. Not that it happens a lot but it's a possibility and having a tag will save you from that.

6 - Headphones

Any music lover needs this one. A good quality and noise canceling headphones are a staple on any traveler's bag! Find that perfect pair and give it to them.

Plus: it will make it easier to fall asleep. Only good things about this one!

7 - Passport holder

This one is not really about making life easier. It is more about making it more unique :D

A passport holder will protect your passport and it will be incredibly beautiful and more resonating with the owner of the passport. Besides. it will help you to keep all your documents in place which is always useful.

8 - Tech Organizer

This one goes hand in hand with number 3. It helps you with organization! Using my particular case, every time I get in the plane and as soon as I put my bag in its place above my seat, I remember "Oh my phone is in the bag" or my headphones or my tablet or my GoPro or charger or any other piece of technology that I need for the trip.

When I have to take my bag from above the seat, try to find what I need as fast as I can while trying not to disturb people who are still finding their seats and usually this ends up with a freaking mess in my bag and me with only half of the things I need. You know what would prevent this? A little tech organizer. I would have all my tech in the same place, easy to find and reach and all this mess on the plane would not happen. Great gift guys, great gift! Trust me!

9 - Travel size skin care

Traveling is not nice on our skin sometimes. Planes tend to dry our skin so much, for example. So having a travel skin care kit will definitely be a great ally when it comes to keep your skin beautiful and healthy all year long despite being home or traveling.

10 - Travel journal

Whenever I travel, I like to write a journal about it. Almost everyday, I sit in the room by the end of the day and write what I did, the places I visited, things that happened, what I ate and so on. This way, I have a record of every detail of my trips and it helps me a lot to remember all the little things and to share information about the trip with others later on.

11 - A mini printer

This one is amazing! A mini printer that you can take anywhere: just snap a photo and print it on the spot. The person could offer this photo to someone or keep it as a souvenir. I've seen travelers going to tribes, take photos of the children there, print them on these mini printers and offer them the photo. It's such a nice and special gift. An instax would do the same but the printer would let you print other things as well, being more versatile.

12 - A wooden or cork wall world map

I am obsessed with this one! I'm even going to buy one for myself as soon as I decide which :D

For a person who travels a lot, it is important to have a place where they can visualize all the cities/countries they visited. What could be better that having that record on your wall?

13 - An album with photos from their experiences

Nothing is more special than memories! So focusing your gift on keeping those memories somewhere will be a great option. Find some photos of the trips the person did (the more special, the better) and get them all into an album. How cute is this one?

On this one, I suggest you check Pastbook's website. They have amazing options ;)

14 - An experience

Sometimes, what people need is not a material thing. Other times, they already have it all. What do you do when that's the case? Give them something they can experience, something you know they would love to do.

If the person is a true adrenaline junkie, you get them a tandem jump or something of the sort. If they need some relaxation, give them a spa experience. If the person loves some good restaurants, give them a fine dining experience. There is so much you can offer and you just need to know what the person will like.

15 - A gift card

In case you're not sure what the person needs or what they would like to do, you can always let them decide what the gift will be. Just get them a gift card and let them choose! There is no way of going wrong with this one ;)

I hope you will find this guide helpful! A lot more could be added here but I decided to keep it simple.

Is there anything that you think should be added here? Do you have any other ideas?

Let me know in the comments what you think and what could be added ;)

XOXO,

Barbara
